As a
fine art photographer, I
delight in using the camera
to
tease
out the beauty that lies
hidden in the ordinary
objects we see or pass by in
our daily lives. My
interest in photography
began in earnest with my
travels abroad and numerous
trips to the Delaware
seashore where I was
captivated by the special
light and the beauty of the
rural countryside. The
camera, always at my side as
I travel about has become my
“canvas.” I moved to
Milton/Broadkill Beach, DE
when I retired to live by
the sea and
pursue my art.
I
describe my body of work as
“Sightings” – my unique take
on the world. It reflects my
passionate concern to
preserve the
soul-satisfying beauty of
the natural environment and
rural landscapes of this
area. The grand vistas of
sinuous fields and woods
that we take for granted are
rapidly giving way to
endless new townhouses and
McMansions. I hope my
photographs of the Milton
area will serve as a clarion
call to protect our natural
heritage for future
generations. How sad it will
be if our children only have
photographs and paintings to
remember the wondrous
treasure we once had and
failed to preserve.
I
began working with digital
cameras and producing inkjet
prints more than three years
ago and am fascinated with
the intense, special reality
produced by this technology
and its impact on
photography as an art form.
My photographs are available
as signed limited edition
archival prints.
My work was exhibited in
2002 and 2005 at the
Nassau Valley Vineyards,
Lewes, Delaware and in 2003
at BooksandCoffee and
Legends and Lore Gallery
in Dewey Beach, DE. The
Sierra Club of
Delaware awarded my
local wildlife images a 1st
Place and a Best in Show
runner-up in 2002. In 2005,
I was awarded 1st
Prize in the Lutheran Church
of Rehoboth Beach exhibit
and my image, “Praying
Mantis” appears in the 2005
Circle of Photographers
Annual. In 2006 I was
commissioned to provide
“Milton Vistas”, large
photograph reproductions for
the new Milton town Hall.
