About Us
Salon Milton - "Hair That
Speaks for Itself"
Historic Location
Salon Milton was established in
February of 2006 and is loc ated
within a beautifully restored
home in Milton, Delaware. When
you enter the salon you will
actually feel the experience of
being a part of something
long-standing and full of charm,
with a romantic essence that
just cannot be defined. The
house itself was built c
1875 by the MeGee Brothers who
were ship captains that built
side by side Victorian Gothic
syle homes. Note that the
scrollwork at the top of the
house is shaped like a ships
wheel.

Shampoo
Chair
You might wonder why we are
mentioning our shampoo chair.
Well, simply put…it is special.
The chair was shipped in from
California and was specifically
designed to allow you to relax,
lay back, and get your hair
washed without hurting your
neck. Anyone who has tried this
chair knows that it is a refined
experience…it is a comfortable
fit, and it is easy to get in
and out of. You can't ask for
anything better than this.
Complimentary
Drink & Snack
During your visit, we will offer
you a complementary glass of
juice, wine, filtered water,
coffee, or tea. We also have
some tasty snacks for your
sampling, often supplied by
Vintage Cafe and Bake Shop,
Miltonian Pizzeria, and others.
John Potocki -
Hair Designer - Colorist - Salon
Owner
John is the
owner/operator of Salon Milton
and has
been in the hair industry for
over 25 years. His
career really
blossomed in 1983 when he
traveled to New York City to the
Jacob Javits Center New York
Hair Show. It was there that he
discovered Aveda and its
founder, Horst Rechelbacher.
Aveda was the American pioneer
of environmentally focused
sustainable products and the
master of essential oiled,
non-synthetic fragrance
creations.
In 1984, John became Aveda's
first East Coast educator,
traveling in five states—VA, PA,
West VA, NC,
DE, and DC—for over 17 years.
After traveling and working in
an Aveda Concept Salon, he
decided to regroup and focus all
of his energies on his own
salon. As he traveled, he always
put away ideas as to what he
would or would not do when he
finally opened his own salon.
These ideas included types of
service and equipment, as well
as lighting and product displays
and the personality of the
salon.

Amelia
Miles - Nail & Wax Technician

Amelia Miles joined the Salon
Milton team in April, 2006. She
worked part time at the Salon as
a stylist assistant, while
attending Sussex Technical High
School. Amelia graduated in 2008
and obtained her cosmetology
license that same year. Amelia
was born and raised in
Annapolis, Maryland. Ever since
she was a little girl she
dreamed of a career in the
beauty industry. Through hard
work and determination she
pushed through obstacles and
made her dream a reality.
Through hands on training Amelia
is learning first hand from John
Potocki what it takes to set
herself apart from other people
in the industry.
Amelia's specialty is manicures
and pedicures. Her other
services include coloring
and waxing. Amelia is excited
about the new product by OPI
called Axxium Soak Off Gel
Lacquer. Not only do all of her
clients enjoy a relaxing hand
massage, but all clients of
Salon Milton are treated to this
special service.
Roi Barnard - Guest Hair Designer &
Colorist (at Salon Milton
once a month)
Many
Milton residents might know Roi
Barnard from his pink and green
1830s home on Federal Street
that he jokingly calls the
dollhouse. Others connect
Barnard with Salon Roi, his hair
salon at the corner of
Connecticut Avenue and Calvert
Street in Washington, D.C.,
where a huge painting of Marilyn
Monroe is emblazoned on the side
of building. The popular,
upscale salon has become a
tourist attraction, with buses
regularly stopping so visitors
can view the mammoth mural.
Why the hat?
Roi Barnard of Milton said
his father never left the family
home without a hat on. Barnard
said his father always bought a
matching hat for his son, which
led to Barnard’s like of cowboy
hats.
